WARNER – Connors State Cowgirls will open Region II Softball Tournament play on Friday, May 2nd at 4 p.m. against Western Oklahoma State College at Coweta High School.
The Cowgirls open the tournament as the No. 3 seed with a 36-15 record. Western State is 23-22 and is the No. 6 seed.
Other opening round games on Friday has No. 1 seed Seminole State (36-10) playing the winner of Carl Albert State College (7-23) and Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa (16-38) at 2 p.m. Carl Albert and NOC-Tonkawa played a play-in game today.
Eastern State (20-27) the No. 5 seed meeting Northern Oklahoma-Enid (37-18) the fourth seed at 10 a.m.; and No. 2 seed Northeastern A&M (39-15) taking on Rose State (27-30) the No. 7 seed at noon.
A win by the Cowgirls will send them into the winners’ bracket on Saturday, May 3 at 10 a.m. against the NEO-Rose State winner. A loss on Friday and they would play a second game at 8 p.m. Friday against the NEO/Rose State loser.
The championship game will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday and a second game if necessary at 4 p.m. All games of the double-elimination tournament will be played at Coweta High School.
The winner of the Region II Tournament will be the host site of the Southwest District Tournament against the Region 23 (Louisiana) champion. The winner of the Southwest District advances to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah.
