WARNER – The 9th ranked Connors Cowboys clinched their second consecutive Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference championship on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Arkansas Baptist 7-1 and 11-0 at Biff Thompson Field.
The Cowboys will take a 44-11 season mark and a 14-6 OCAC record into the Region II Tournament that begins Thursday. Pairings and times will be released on Monday, May 5. It is expected that the first round will be played at Rogers State University before moving to Jenks High School.
Eric Kirkpatrick’s two-run home run, his eighth of the year, got the Cowboys the lead in the fifth inning of game one against Arkansas Bapatist and propeled them to a win and on to a sweep of Arkansas Baptist,
Josh Hammill (8-2) gave up four hits and struck out six, with his only run an unearned run. Yariel Gonzalez had three hits and Kirkpatrick two hits.
Connor Garcia (3-1) got the shutout on a run-rule affair in the nightcap. Kirkpatrick, Tyler Fourkiller and Jake Borrego each had two hits in the victory.
