WARNER – Connors State’s Jarrard Poteete, sophomore catcher from Hilldale High School in Muskogee was drafted in the 19th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins.
Poteete was the 560th player selected in the draft.
Poteete, who transferred to Connors State from Texas Tech to play for Cowboys head coach Perry Keith, was an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference and Region II selection last season in leading Connors State to a 46-13 record. The Cowboys placed third in the Region II Tournament and first place in the OCAC.
The catcher batted .390 in 195 appearances at the plate, collecting 76 base hits, which included 15 doubles, one triple and four home runs. He had a slugging percentage of .538 and an on base percentage of .481.
He appeared in 58-of the Cowboys 59 games last season, collecting 55 RBIs, walking 27 times and striking out just 14 times. Poteeete also had three stolen bases.
