Adarius Avery named Honorable Mention All-American by NJCAA

Connors State’s Adarius Avery, 6-5 sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., has been named Honorable Mention All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“Adarius is very deserving of this honor,” said Cowboys head coach Bill Muse. “He has had two outstanding seasons at Connors and I know he will continue to play well at the next level.”

In two seasons at CSC Avery scored 1,149 points, averaging 17.6 points in 65 games over two seasons. Avery average 10.7 points his freshman season and 24.1 his sophomore year.

The sophomore was named the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the week and the NJCAA  National Player of the Week, while being named to the OCAC and Region II first team this past season.

Avery played a huge part in leading the Cowboys to a 53-12 record, two OCAC titles, a Region II crown and an NJCAA National Tournament appearance.
