LITTLE ROCK, ARK.–Ra’Shawn Langston scored a career high 41 points in leading the 26th-ranked Connors State Cowboys (3-0) to a 109-94 Region II victory over host Arkansas Baptist Tuesday night.
Langston’s 41-point outburst topped his previous career high a year ago against San Jacinto Junior College when he poured home 33 points.
Ra’™Shawn played really well, in fact he played great,” said Cowboys’ assistant coach Zac Rogers. “He doesn’t let you down when its a big situation.”
However, the Little Rock sophomore who was playing before his home crowd wasn’t the only Cowboy to score in double figures.
He was joined by Darius Roy who scored 16, and was followed by Terrance Jones’ 15 and Mason Jones’ 13 points.
Connors jumped out to a 9-0 lead, found themselves trailing by six points at the intermission 51-45, slicing a 15-point Arkansas Baptist advantage.
Langston who scored only 13 points in the opening 20 minutes, exploded for 28 points in the final half en route to the victory.
In the final eight minutes of play the Cowboys raced a 15-point advantage to put away the Buffaloes, who fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Buffaloes had six players score in double figures with Darious Elliott leading the attack with 19 points. Nicolas Jones tallied 15 points with Dylan Spriggins and Kamron Swift scoring 14 each, while Gabriel Drayton and Romello Jones scoring 10 points each.
The Cowboys will return home Thursday night to play Bacone College at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
