WARNER — Connors State led by double-figure scoring of Tierra Jones, Mikiah McDonald, DeAuja Thompson and Cheyenne Marshall in leading the Cowgirls past visiting Oklahoma Wesleyan Junior Varsity 85-40 at Melvin Self Field House Tuesday night.
Cowgirls (2-1) were led by Jones’ 20 points, with McDonald 19, Thompson 16 and Marshall 13 in the victory.
Connors State will return to action Thursday at home against Southwestern Christian Junior Varsity at 5:30 p.m. in Melvin Self Field House.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 37-13 lead after the first quarter of play and held a commanding 56-17 advantage at the half.
“We made a lot of baskets in transition and I was happy with that,” said Cowgirls head Coach Jamie Fisher. “We were pretty unselfish which you can see by the scoring.
“I was really pleased with how we rebounded. We really struggled against Coffeyville last week. Tonight we rebounded very well and ran the floor,” said Fisher.
The Cowgirls continued its excellent outside shooting draining eight threes against Wesleyan.
Oklahoma Wesleyan’s scoring was led by Alexssa Armstead and N’Keiveia Turner-Smith with seven points each.
