BIG SPRING, TEXAS –Holding a two point lead with four minutes remaining, Connors State Cowgirls Bailey Pendley drained two 3-point shots to spark the Cowgirls to a 57-45 victory over Howard College Friday.
Cowgirls who drained eight from behind the arc improved to 9-7 on the season and returns to Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play against Murray State on Monday in Tishomingo. The Aggies are 0-2 in OCAC play, 4-10 on the season. Connors is 1-1 in league action.
“We played much better defensively today than on Thursday at Midland and knocked down some shots at the end to finish the game,” said head coach Jamie Fisher.
“We also did a much better job on the boards,” added Fisher.
Connors never trailed in the game, leading 10-8 after the first quarter and 33-21 at the half.
DeAuja Thompson led the Cowgirls’ scoring with 17 points, with Pendley adding 12 points and Tierra Jones 10 points.
The Hawks (10-8) was led by Corbyn Cunningham’s 15 points with Taylor Allison and Kaki Simpson scoring 10 points each.
