SEMINOLE – Seminole State held Connors State scoreless for 4:19 of the fourth quarter and went on a 10-0 run to defeat the Cowgirls 73-61 Monday at Raymond Harbor Field House.
The loss drops Connors to 11-13 on the year and 3-7 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Belles improve to 9-11 for the season and 6-4 in OCAC play.
Tierr Jones and Saide Carter led the Cowgirls scoring with 13 points each. Kaci Richardson led the Belles with 27 points.
Connors fought back from an 11-point deficit to within four points 59-55 with 6:27 left in the final quarter.
That was the closest Connors came to the Belles, before Seminole went on it 10- run to put the game away.
Cowgirls return home Thursday to play Murray State at Melvin Self Field House. The Aggies defeated Connors 73-63 in their first meeting at Tishomingo on January 8th.
Connors took an early 4-0 lead against the Belles, but quickly fell behind 18-12 after the first quarter. The Belles increased its six-point lead to 10 points 30-20 with 7:16 left in the second period.
The Cowgirls battled back to with seven at the end of the half 39-32 behind Tierr Jones, who came off the bench to lead the first half scoring with nine points.
