Former Cowboy Henderson Named Steer Wrestling Rookie of Year



WARNER—Dennell Henderson, former Connors State basketball player has been named the 2019 Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year.

The 26-year-old, who put his Pro Rodeo Dreams on hold until after his basketball playing days, took the title by winning $47,347.00 during his first year on  the circuit.

"I always played sports but never had time to go rodeo until now," said Henderson.

"Its what I always wanted to do. Its just a great feeling to wake up and do what I really love now."

Following his career at Connors State (2012 and 2013), Henderson completed his collegiate basketball playing days at Oral Roberts University.

Henderson averaged 10 points a game and 6.7 rebounds his freshman season at Connors. He averaged 11.1 points and 7.2 rebounds his sophomore year.
