Cowgirls Rebound to Dump Northeastern A&M
Connors Cowgirls rebounded from a disappointing loss to Redlands last week to win back the battle of the traveling “ A&M Trophy” Thursday night with a 59-52 win over Northeastern A&M at the NEO Field House in an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference clash.
The victory avenged an early season loss to the Lady Norse at Melvin Self Field House 67-58 on January 10th.
The Cowgirls are now 15-9 on the year and 8-5 in OCAC play. NEO falls to 16-8 and 8-5 in league action.
Kaila Crawford led the Cowgirls scoring with 11 points followed by Taylor Lloyd’s 9, Tonisha Dean and Tiffanie Abrams with 8 points each.
Wilka Montout paced the lady Norse with 13 and BriAnna Garza added 12.
Connors overcome foul problems in the opening half and took a 30-30 tie into the locker room after leading by as many as 10 points in the first 20 minutes of action.
“We came out of the locker room much more focused and battled them very tough in the second half to take the lead,” said Cowgirls head coach Eddie Kite.
“We came in with a lot more focus and determination tonight, knocking down some big shot and getting big stops on defense down the stretch.”
