WARNER—Legendary Connors State baseball coach Perry Keith entered Thursday one win away from his 1,600th career victory.
The No. 10 Cowboys earned that win in emphatic fashion.
Connors State defeated Eastern State 10-1 to improve to 36-5 on the year.
Eastern struck first with a solo home run in the top of the third inning, but Luis Pelayo's two-run single helped Connors score three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good.
In the fourth inning, Peyton Crispin earned a run batted in on a single and Carson Johnson had a two-RBI double as Connors stretched its lead to 7-1.
Pelayo led the Cowboys with three hits and three RBIs. Logan Gragg (2-0) pitched five innings allowing one hit and striking out six.
