WARNER—Connors State used a 16-2 run midway the first half en route to a blow out 119-48 win over Southwestern Christian Junior Varsity at Melvin Self Field House Friday night.
The Cowboys had seven players score in double figures with Terrance Jones leading the assault with 22 points followed by Burke Putnam 17, Tyrees Sidberry 16, Elijah Landrum 16, Isaiah Jones 14, Jordan Graham 11, and Daylon Tanksley11.
Cowboys led 53-24 at the intermission and finished just two points off the all-time scoring mark in a single contest of 121 points that was established against Bacone College in 1994.
The 23rd-ranked Cowboys remained unbeaten (2-0) and returns to action Tuesday night at Little Rock, Ark., to battle Arkansas Baptist in a Region II contest.
Cowboys were never contested in the final 20 minutes.
Connors head coach Bill Muse was pleased with the play of his squad in the lop-sided contest.
"Games like this gives an opportunity for guys on our bench to play and get some much needed experience, that we desperately need," said Muse.
"During a long season you are going to get injuries, foul trouble. This gives people a chance to play and see what they can do. This will help us down the road."
Muse turned his thoughts toward Tuesday night and Arkansas Baptist.
"It's a Region II game and will be a good test for us," said Muse. "We are expecting a difficult game on the road. If we play like we have the past two games we will be fine."
Muse said he was pleased with the play of Terrance Jones on Friday. "He played a much better game than he did last night (Thursday)."
