Cowboys' Jones Commits to University of Southern Mississippi

WARNER—Connors State's 6-8 forward Isaiah Jones from Phoenix, Ariz., has committed to continue his basketball playing career at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., announced Cowboys head coach Bill Muse Saturday.

The sophomore, who transferred to Connors after one season at Biola University in California, averaged 11.2 points an outing while pulling down 8.6 rebounds a game. Jones shot 62 percent from the field, connecting on 158-of-255 attempts. He shot 56.6 percent at the free throw line.
Southern Mississippi is coached by Doc Sadler, a former junior college head coach at University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. The Golden Eagles postes a 20-13 record last season and participated in the Collegiate Basketball Invitational Tournament, losing to Longwood University in the first round.

Jones was the PacWest Freshman of the Year at Biola. He played an instrumental part in leading the Cowboys to a 26-6 record and into the finals of the Region II Championship game.
