WARNER—Connors State Cowboys' home opener was no contest from start to finish.
Freshman Jahcoree Ealy slammed home the first Cowboys points of the season with a thunderous dunk to open the 2019-20 season for Connors in routing Southwestern University Christian Junior Varsity 111-57 Tuesday night at Melvin Self Field House
Connors will now take a perfect 3-0 record on the road Thursday to Little Rock, Ark., to battle Arkansas Baptist in a Region II Division I encounter.
Once again the Cowboys had balanced scoring, a trade mark of Connors offensive attack.
"We had an opportunity play a lot of people and that was important," said Coach Bill Muse. "Game like this, the more they (players) are around each other on the court, the more comfortable they get.
"But, we have a big game against Arkansas Baptist, so we will see where we are," said Muse.
Ealy, who finished with five dunks en route to a 20-point performance. But it was Jaquavious Cain who led six players in double figure scoring with 24 points.
"Ealy is very athletic, he showed that with his dunks, "said Muse. "He's long and can play a variety of positions. He is a solid player. He has got off to a quick start this season."
Concerning Cain Muse said, "He moved into the starting lineup after playing really well at Camden in the classic. He's big strong, can rebound and score."
Connors cruised to a 64-20 lead at the half, breaking out to a 19-2 lead in the opening four minutes of play.
It was all the Connors the rest of the one-sided affair.
Riggs and Jordan put on a 3-point shooting display, as they each drained three treys each as the Cowboys finished with eight in the contest.
Connors was just as deadly at the free throw line draining 13-of-16 at the stripe.
The Eagles' scoring was led by Jamal Clark's 22 points with Kesnon Sykes adding 11 more.
Southwestern drained 11 from behind the arc, with 33 of their 57 points coming on treys.
