WARNER—Connors State Cowboys surpassed the century mark in scoring for the fifth time this season in routing visiting Oklahoma Wesleyan University Junior Varsity 113-57 at Melvin Self Field House Tuesday night.
The preliminaries are over for the Cowboys (8-0) as they open Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play Thursday night in Altus. The opponent will be Western Oklahoma State College. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
Cowboys were never in any trouble with the visiting Eagles as they cruised to a 59-30 lead at the intermission.
"We are playing good offensive basketball," said Coach Bill Muse. "We are looking forward to getting into conference play on Thursday.
"Hopefully we can maintain what we are doing offensively and do better defensively."
Connors drained seven treys in the one-sided affair and connected on 16-of-21 at the free throw line.
The Eagles top scorer was Dakota Reedy with 16 points.
Starting sophomore guard Caleb Riggs from Okay went down with a twisted ankle at the 13:07 mark of the opening half after draining a trey from the right corner.
He was helped off the floor and did not return. His status is day-to-day, according to Muse.
"I don't know if he'll be ready for Thursday or not," said Muse. "We'll see how that goes."
sConnors largest lead of the game was 59 points, 111-53 with two minutes remaining.
