WARNER—Connors State suffered its third consecutive loss, this time a heartbreaking 76-73 loss to arch-rival Northeastern A&M at Melvin Self Field House Monday.
The loss drops the Cowboys to15-4 overall and 2-3 in Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Norsemen remain atop the OCAC standings at 4-0 and improved to 11-5 on the year.
Cowboys will now look toward a road contest on Thursday at Enid against Northern Oklahoma-Enid.
"We played extremely hard," said Coach Bill Muse. "If we had played this hard the previous two games we would have had different results this semester the last two weeks."
Connors had its opportunities to win the game in overtime but missed several shots which would have put it away.
Deadlocked at 68 at the end of regulation Cowboys took a 71-68 lead on a three-point shot by Caleb Riggs, who finished with 23 points, which included seven from behind the arc.
However, the Cowboys missed several shots that would have given them a cushion, before the Norse scored seven unanswered points to secure the victory.
