Cowboys Upset Bid at Murray State Falls Short, 81-72

TISHOMINGO----League leading Murray State blistered the nets from behind the arc in the first half, draining 11 treys en route to an 81-72 victory over Connors State in an Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference clash Monday night.

Connors falls to 16-6 on the year and 3-5 in OCAC play. Murray improves to 17-3 and is unbeaten in league play at 8-0.

Cowboys return for a homecoming clash with Western Oklahoma State Thursday at Melvin Self Field House. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

The Aggies held a 49-35 lead at the half as the Cowboys never led in the game. Trailing by nine points late in the second half, Connors battled back to with  a point, but back-to-back turnovers  proved fatal in the Cowboys upset bid.

Daylon Tanksley led the Cowboys' scoring with 21 points with Isaiah Francis and Jahcoree Ealy scoring 19 and 12 respectively.

Connors was 18-of-28 at the free throw line and managed just two three-point baskets. Murray State was 11-of-17 at the charity stripe.

Jerry Carraway and Kyle Murray led the Aggies scoring with 14 points each. Cedric Garrett and Kobe Burgess each scored13 points in the win. Shem'mario Stephens added 10 more.
