Cowgrils Fall Twice in Galveston, Finish With 2-3 Record in Tournament

GALVESTON— On the final day of the Galveston Tournament Saturday the Connors State Cowgirls lost twice losing to San Jac 3-1 in nine innings and 11-9 to Bossier Parish to finish the two day tournament 2-3.

Connors will resume play on Feb. 25th at Trinity Valley Community College for a twin bill.

Despite trailing 11-6 in the sixth inning Connors rallied for three runs in the last of the seventh, but fell short, 11-9 to Bossier Parish.

In Connors opening game the Cowgirls entered the ninth inning tied at 1-1 with San Jac, however the Texans scored twice to take a 3-1 win.

Connors scored in the first inning when Haley Castle laid down a sacrifice bunt to plate a run.

San Jac came back in the seventh to tie the game and send it into extra innings.

Katy Medlin opened in the circle for the Cowgirls going six innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out two.

Mikayla Wildcat threw three innings in relief and took the loss. She gave up five hits and struck out one.

Braxten Frazier led the Cowgirls hitting attack with a 3-for-4 hitting performance. Connors had seven hits in the game

Against Bossier Parish the Cowgirls' Kacee Haning, Medlin and Maylin Hladin singled home runs.

Wildcat started for CSC in the circle going four innings, allowing 11 hits, 10 runs, while striking out two and walking one. Hladin pitched two innings in relief.

Connors had nine hits with Braxten (3-for-3) and Kyzia Whisenhunt collecting multiple base hits including a solo home run in the third inning by Whisenhunt.
