Cowgirls Dump Allen County, 60-57

Connors State Cowgirls behind the double-figure scoring of Cheyenne Marshall and Vickie Duru fought off Allen County Community College Saturday at Melvin Self Field House for a 60-57 victory.

Cowgirls with take a 5-1 record and two-game winning streak into a Monday clash against Paris Community College at 5 p.m. at Melvin Self Field House. Paris handed the Cowgirls their only loss of the season on the Dragons home floor 57-44 two weeks ago.

Marshall led the Cowgirls scoring against Allen County with 22 points and was followed by Duru with 19, while Sadie Carter added nine.

Allen County jumped out in front of the Cowgirls kin the opening quarter 19-8 before Connors slowly cut into Allen County's lead, trailing 31-27 at the half.

Connors led 42-41 after three quarters of play for their first lead of the game.

Then in the fourth quarter they exchanged buckets before the Cowgirls outscored Allen County 18-16 to secure the victory.
