IOLA, KAN. –Connors Cowgirls snapped a three-game losing streak and opened the new year and the second half of the season with a 77-62 victory over Allen County, Kan. Community Thursday.
Shaniqua Patterson made her return to the Cowgirls after sitting out the first semester an impressive one by leading Connors in scoring with 31 points.
"This was a good way to start," said Cowgirls head coach Jamie Fisher. "We killed them on the boards. They couldn't stop our two post players inside. We just pounded the ball inside."
Cowgirls' game with Midland Texas Community College on Friday in Warner has been postponed and has been rescheduled for Feb. 16th. Connors will return to action on Monday, Jan. 7th at 5:30 p.m. when they play Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference member Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Mountaineers are 0-2 in league play, and CSC 1-1.
"This is an important game for both of us, said Fisher. "We'll be ready."
Cowgirls trailed 30-29 at the half, but outscored the Red Devils 26-20 in the third period to never trail.
