Cowgirls move to Region 2 Semi-Finals

The Connors State Cowgirls accomplished something that hadn't been done in 13 years by advancing to the Region 2 Semi-Finals by defeating NOC Tonkawa 90-72 inside Rougher Village Arena. The Cowgirls started off the game red hot outscoring the Lady Mavs 22-12 in the first quarter but found themselves trailing 43-41 at the half with Tonkawa going on a 22-12 run to end the 1st half captalizing on their second chance opportunities. The Cowgirls came out in the second half and took the lead mid-way through the 3rd quarter and never looked back outscoring the Lady Mavs 49-35 and out rebounding the Lady Mavs 46-40.

"I told the girls we needed to tighten up our rebounding and giving up easy baskets. The second half we did a great job of executing both goals." said Head Cowgirl Coach Jamie Fisher

The Cowgirls had 4 players scoring in double figures lead by Haitiana Releford with 29 points, Kylie Eubanks scored 19 points, Adrian Crockwell had 16 points and Samantha Shanks had 12 points. Kayley Turner finished the game with 8 points and Carrigan Hill rounded out the Cowgirl's in scoring with 6 points.

"I was proud of our girls tonight we set a goal to win this game like a team with good physical defense, and fast play and we did exactly that." said Fisher

The Cowgirls will advance to the Region 2 Semi-Finals tomorrow night at 8 pm inside Muskogee Rougher Village Arena to take on NOC Enid Lady Jets, who they split with on the season. Enid took the first game in the series in Enid from the Cowgirls with a score of 66-61 but the Cowgirls avenged their loss a little over a week ago defeating the Lady Jets in Warner on Sophomore night 68-57.
