Connors State Cowboys Storm Back To Defeat Rose State Raiders
Connors State Cowboys rallied to defeat Rose State Raiders 9-8 on Saturday. Connors State Cowboys trailed by as many as seven runs during the game. Connors State Cowboys didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at eight in the top of the tenth when Anderson Fenwick doubled, scoring one run. Rose State Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Meza grounded out, and Prosperi singled to left field, each scoring one run. Rose State Raiders added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Alvarez doubled, Lyddiard singled down the left field line, Meza singled down the left field line, Prosperi singled to left field, and Pattison grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Connors State Cowboys made the score 8-7 in the top of the seventh inning when Brooks Hasenclever hit a solo home run to right field, and Luke Beeler doubled, scoring one run. Beeler singled down the right field line, which helped Connors State Cowboys tie the game at eight in the top of the ninth. Ty Anderson started on the mound for Connors State Cowboys. The southpaw surrendered seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Thorpe stepped on the mound first for Rose State Raiders. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking two. Joan Contreras threw four and two-thirds innings of no-run ball for Connors State Cowboys in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out seven and walking four. Connors State Cowboys tallied 12 hits in the game. Beeler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Connors State Cowboys with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Jordan Gallo and Beeler each collected three hits for Connors State Cowboys. Hasenclever collected two hits for Connors State Cowboys in five at bats. Maddox Edwards paced Connors State Cowboys with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
