Cowboy's Sutton Signs with University of Nebraska- Omaha

"Marquel is a long and athletic forward that can step out to three and play around the rim. He put up great stats as a freshman at Connors State. Marquel will give us experience and athleticism at the forward slot. He's a young man that plays with a very high motor, and we are excited to see his growth in Omaha."
Sutton helped lead the Cowboys to a 28-6 record and an appearance in the Opening Round of the NJCAA National Basketball Tournament after earning the No. 21 national seed in the tournament up in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The 6-foot-7 forward from Tulsa, Oklahoma started 28 of the 31 games that he played in. He averaged 15.9 points while shooting 56.1% from the field, 1.5 assists, 8.5 rebounds and 0.7 steals per game. Sutton shot 70.1 percent from the free throw line on the year.
He posted season and career highs of 33 points on the road at Eastern Oklahoma State College, collected as many as 17 rebounds in a game and handed out as many as 5 assists.
He posted 26 games of 10+ points, including a multipule stretches of where he scored over 15 points in four consecutive games.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native attended Tulsa Will Rogers High School as a prep before signing with the Cowboys. Sutton helped lead the Tulsa Will Rogers to its first Class 5A State Tournament appearance in over 20 years as a senior.
