Connors led from the outset, but the Mustangs played close and trailed just 20-18 at the 14:00 mark of the first half when the Cowboys went on a rampage and outscored Central Baptist 49-18 for the rest of the half to lead 69-36 at the break.
"Our offense was fine tonight but we've got to correct a lot of stuff on defense," said head coach Bill Muse. "We made a lot of mistakes on that end of it so I'm not worried at all about the offense, but the defense needs some work.
Tulsa Memorial sophomore Bradyn Hubbard again led all scorers on the night with 27 points, followed by freshman Khamani Cooper from Pine Bluff with 17, Westville's Buddy Hammer who got the starting nod, finished with 16 points, Tulsa Memorial alums Ty Frierson and Dannon Lundy, ended up ;with 13 and 12 points respectively, while Donyae May and Tony Green Jr. had 11 points each as the Cowboys go to 2-0 on the season.
The Cowboys return to Melvin Self Fieldhouse tomorrow night to take on Southwestern Christian University on Patriotic Night. Tip off is at 7:00pm.
