Warner, OK- The men's game pitted two of the nation's leading scorers in Connor's Bradyn Hubbard and Muskogee alum Javontae Campbell of Northern. Both were tied for third in the nation averaging 25.8 points per game and while Campbell may have won the individual battle, the Cowboys (19-2, 6-1 OCAC) won the war with a 94-78 victory.
The first half was intense as the Cowboys fought from behind most of the time before taking a 35-33 lead into the halftime locker room. While Hubbard finished with 29 points on the night, it was the play of guard Donyae Mae who had 17 of his 21 points in the second half including four treys along with Tony Green who totaled 18 points on the night with all but two of those coming in the second half as the Cowboys exploded for 59 points in the half.
"We played a tough game Thursday at NEO which we had a chance to win but fell short and we spent a lot of energy and we've only got nine guys going right now so I was pleased we found the power in the second half to win" said Connors coach Bill Muse. "It was nice to see Hubbard get to 1,000 points which is big in our program and the guys gave us a much better second half particularly Mae and Green."
