Hastings announces Randolph Howell as New Mens Assistant Coach

Randolph Howell joins the Connors State College men's basketball staff after building a successful coaching career across the NJCAA, NCAA Division II, Oklahoma high school basketball, and elite AAU basketball. Known for his passion for player development, recruiting, and relationship building, Howell brings experience at every level of the game and a commitment to developing championship-caliber student-athletes on and off the court. Prior to arriving at Connors State, Howell served as an assistant basketball coach at Ada City Schools, where he assisted in all aspects of the varsity program, including player development, practice planning, game preparation, strength and conditioning, and program operations. 

At the collegiate level, Howell previously served as an assistant coach at Cape Fear Community College from 2019–2020. During his time with the Sea Devils, he helped the program compile a 21-9 overall record and a third-place Region 10 finish while contributing to the development of three All-Region selections, the Region 10 Newcomer of the Year, and an NJCAA All-American. Prior to Cape Fear, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at East Central University, helping lead the Tigers to back-to-back winning seasons and a third-place conference finish.

As a player, Howell began his collegiate career at Cape Fear Community College, where he averaged 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as a freshman while helping lead the Sea Devils to the conference semifinals. After a redshirt season, he returned to average 7.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, leading a nationally ranked team in rebounding while shooting 55.7 percent from the field. He later competed at Mars Hill College before finishing his career at East Central University, where he averaged 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds during the 2011–12 season. His experiences as both a player and coach have shaped a philosophy centered on toughness, accountability, relationships, and servant leadership.

Currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Rural Education at East Central University, Howell's research focuses on the role athletics plays in character development, leadership, and educational opportunity.
