Coach Jay Thompson adds Grace Abercrombie as Assistant Coach

Connors State College Women's Basketball is excited to welcome Grace Abercrombie as the program's new Assistant Women's Basketball Coach.

She joins the Cowgirls staff with a strong playing background at both the Division I and Division II levels, along with a passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes both on and off the court.

She began her collegiate career at the College of Charleston (NCAA Division I), where she made an immediate impact by earning CAA All-Rookie Team honors during the 2021–22 season. She was also named CAA Rookie of the Week three times, establishing herself as one of the conference's top newcomers.

Following her time at Charleston, she continued her career at the University of North Texas before concluding her final two collegiate seasons at Northeastern State University. While at Northeastern State, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in General Studies and was recognized on the Dean's Honor Roll for her academic excellence.

Before college, she enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Jacksonville High School, where she was a two-time District MVP, earned All-State Player of the Year honors, and graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer with 1,746 career points.

Now transitioning into coaching, she brings a wealth of playing experience, leadership, and enthusiasm to the Connors State program. She is currently coaching youth basketball for Midwest Hustle Elite 16u. Her commitment to player development, academics, and building meaningful relationships with student-athletes makes her an outstanding addition to the Cowgirls family.

Thompson " I am excited to work with Grace. She brings the knowledge and experience we need to help our girls continue after Connors. I wanted to find a young coach who is eager and had plans to be a head coach someday. I am honored to work with Grace. Her playing experience allows our girls to have close insight on D1 and D2 level. Her focus will be wings/hybrid development and recruiting cooridinator.
